GP Surgeries
Initially set up in response to demand for self-defence classes for General Practice, Jon Brooks and Chris Jordan, two friends with a background in law enforcement began delivering training for GP’s in 1994. In a very short space of time they realised the need was not only for physical breakaway skills but the main priority was to help frontline staff in the medical sector understand the drivers for challenging behaviours exhibited by patients and the best ways to manage conflict – how to communicate with someone who is angry or upset and how to spot when communication is at an end and the only safe thing to do is to withdraw. Initially we developed a personal safety module and then went on to look at conflict management. The excellence of our initial programmes led to demand for courses in other fields tailored to the needs of the medical sector; we now offer over 20 courses aimed specifically at those in the medical fields.
